Sorry if this has been asked before.

I'm going to be buying my first studio lighting kit soon and am wondering if the smart flash 2 kit for £319.99 is the same (inside) as the Pixapro 200 400 kit for the same price?

I've not studied the specs but on the face of it they look identical except that Pixapro throw in a roller bag.

I've read Garry's post with interest and had almost settled on the lencarta kit.

Then I went onto my Flickr site and noticed Pixapro had started following me recently so had a look at their website.

Could someone in the know give some advice?

Thanks,

Terry.

Well they're both made by the same company, but not quite the same lights.

Lencarta claim to have units built to their own spec, often different to identical looking units from Godox, and if you read the spec sheets, it appears Lencarta are telling the truth.

Lencarta have brilliant customer service, and at a cursory glance, the pixapro softboxes look a bit crap, and I'd guess the stands aren't as good as the Lencarta ones (they offer no details)

All that said, in real terms there's probably not a lot in it.

Cheers Phil.

Just realised Lencarta now offer a 3 year warranty as opposed to the Pixapro 2 year one so that's preferable.

Thanks for your input.

I personally cannot rate the Lencarta Smartflash 2 kit enough. You get a lot of kit for your money and so far it has performed perfectly. I particularly like the 3 year warranty, the ability to swap bits of the kit and only pay the difference and also the wireless Rx/Tx system that is compatible with their high end stuff, should you wish to upgrade.

The air-cushioned stands are sturdy, the lights themselves are incredibly light - all in all I am a very happy Lencarta user!
