Hi there,

I'm looking to do some promotional shots for a band and they've requested to do it in a Pine Forest.

Does anyone know of any places I could feasibly reach from Hampshire that look a little like this:

I've been looking around already and the main problem is the undergrowth. I'm not sure if fern dies off at a certain time of year but its presenting a problem at the moment.

Many thanks!

I know one, part of a normal woddland but the pine part has no undergrowth - downside, its here in Sth Herts, though very easily accessible from M25, about 1 1/2 miles from jnt 24 - if thats any use, will post details when I get home later, just off out the door.

The link doesn't work:(

I think he means this image.

Shouldn't be hard to find pine forest in the Hampshire/Surrey area, although the groundcover below will be different, which you acknowledge as the problem. The groundcover beneath a pine forest in Southern England is usually bracken. If you want what looks like Vaccinium spp as the groundcover you'll have to head north and/or gain altitude.

A local woodland I visit has the bracken actively managed, they roll it flat with a horse and roller.. but the bracken still dominates. Even when it dies off in winter it doesn't lie flat and forms a lumpy brown ground cover.

If you want a green groundcover, you may need to switch to other tree species (not pine) and look for wetter areas of woodland where grasses and reeds dominate the groundcover.
