Hi sorry if this is a dumb question but , when you resize a picture for posting on here do you save as a gif or a jpeg ? I have posted a some pics in the motor sport section and they appear grainy and not as sharp as they should. They were posted as jpegs.
Any help appriciated.
 
Seeing as saving as a GIF would limit you to a total palette of only 256 colours, JPEG should be the obvious choice. Do make sure you embed the appropriate colour profile though.

And it's certainly not as simple as assuming the reason these motorsport shots were 'grainy' or 'not as sharp' was down to the file-format chosen. There's a multitude of reasons why that may have been the case.
