Can anyone tell me how to get LR 5.7 to show the pick and reject flags again as they have somehow disappeared from the Develop tab.
and help to keep the site free for all

Depends on where you keep the watermarks and what exactly you mean by delete preferences.

just use P (pick) and X (reject) so much quicker

I wasn't getting both flags or the symbol that meant that you had adjustments on that image.
Deleted the preferences file
Users > [user name] > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Lightroom > Preferences
