No, you shouldn't have said you wanted it free, 'cause that's software piracy, which is illegal. And something for which TP can be held legally responsible and result in the closure of the forums.

Why don't you try something free, like GIMP, or fork out for a reduced version of Photoshop (like Elements) which is great value for money, and does just about everything you need it to do. Alternatively you could pick up a 2nd hand copy from ebay.

Have you tried the Gimp recently? Recently I spent a while using the CS3 trial but decided to switch back to the Gimp. I find it a better program, unless you need 16-bit colour I guess. YMMV.
