Hi all,
As a point & shoot user & soon to be a DSLR owner, when I can finally make my mind up that is.
I have always used paint shop pro for editing pics, I originally chose this as it was meant to be easier than photoshop & also cheaper too. Most of the dslr users that I've spoken to seem to use photoshop elements so I was thinking of changing to that, so my questions are.....

Is it worth me changing, will photoshop offer me much more than PSP or are they both much of a muchness & so I should stay where I am?

If I do decide to change is it worth splashing out on the most recent version or do older versions offer enough?
Thanks
Carole :)

I have psp9, but i'm not sure just how old that is, I also have photoshop CS5, i have to be honest, there is no comparison between them. photoshop is a much better bit of software.

I also did upgrade from cs4 to cs5 as i liked the sound of some of the new features

I have not used PSP so can't compare, but I will say the PS Elements will be fine for your needs, you certainly don't need to waste hundreds of pounds on the full blown Photoshop CS5.

As your used to paint shop pro, I'd stick with that for a while after you get the new dSLR and see how you go on.

What version of PSP have you got?

I have PSP x2 which i think is very capable and would meet most peoples needs. I also have CS4 and Capture NX2. I still prefer PSP X2 for ease of use.

So unless you plan on doing major post processing, i would stick with what you know. I would upgrade to PSP X3 though as this will recognise your new cameras Raw files.

I would stick with what you have got and then see how you get on with it with your new camera.

My version is also PSP photo X2, I will look into upgrading though. Thankyou all for the advice, I think I will stick to what I know & see how I get on in the world of DSLR's when I take the plunge.

I always use PSP pro photo x2.. I did get a copy of x3 but found it very glitchy, kept crashing all the time so went back to x2

I use photoshop however - I've aquired Paintshop Photo Pro X3 and I have to say it's not half bad.
