Photoshop - transferring photos to new comp

Hi

I have lots of photos on my pc and organise them with photoshop elements and tag them. If I copy my photos to an external hard drive (which I do regularly using windows explorer) and then put them on a new PC, and install photoshop elements on that PC, will the tags transfer across?

Or do I need ot backup them up in a different way?

I think you need to back them up specifically from within elements.
Fire up organiser, go to File, Backup catalog to Cd,DVD or Hard Drive.

I did this when moving to a new PC however I managed to stuff the restore up somehow so that I got a massively nested directory structure afterwards.
e.g I think the originals were in C:\Data\photos, when I restored I wanted the pictures in the same place so I pointed restore at the same directory, however I then got my photos nested under C:\Data\photos\data\photos which was a pain.

The photos and tags were all there though.
