Ok, so each day - photoshop release a top tip, usually in a 5-8 min video tutorial, some of which i have a stab at to improve my knowledge..... (although the whiny american accents do tend to pee you off after about 10 secs)

Today was putting a film strip collage over a landscape.......:nono: Had a 5 min play though  (and then had a go at the tutorial ;))

Tacky or useful?

Yup, pretty tacky and not much use if you ask me (well, not to me anyway, although each to their own).... ruins a good photograph, and I've seen it done much better as far as the film strip goes; perforated edges; curled up, etc. :D

Edit: Not sure what you're asking in the poll? If it's 'tip of the day,' I'm sure it's very useful, but if it's this particular tip of the day, well.......

to be honest I quite agree with you... can't see anything from that being used, but I tend to have a go at the tutrials about 3-4 times a week, as well, it builds up your knowledge of the software, and occasionally there is a belter, that works well or makes things easier.

as to the poll - I guess what I was asking, is "useful or useless PP process."

Sorry tacky, although I really like your original image, and no offence intended.
As for is it a good idea or not, anything that gets us thinking and practicing our skills has got to be a good idea, and what you have learnt today may well have other applicatons at a later date.

Tacky because you have used the wrong sort of image, surely?

This type of thing I would have guessed you would use more for portrait or a pic of a friend/family etc. I rather like it and would use it for say facebook or something.

Not something you will use on the pic used by the OP.

Is there a link to this tip? I would like to try it on a pic of a friend.

to all the comments above - wholeheartedly agree, and appreciate that the subject of the original can influence the outcome..... wa smore a question of could it work?

ideally for me, if i was to do it would be a portrait with the camera set to nuke mode (x fps) and then a convincing film strip with each diffferent image in the strip and the best one as the main pic in the frame

for those who wanted a link... clicky here

I could see this used with one big portrait and a series of smaller different poses in the filmstrip.

As a photographic work of Art... tacky.

As a useful tool for home made albums of holiday snaps...ok.

For Scrapbook enthusiasts...very useful.
