i am going to sign up for Photoshop having using Lightroom for about a year or so. Please help by giving your top tips on getting started. I also like to have a reference book handy so if you could recommend one of those that would be useful. Thanks
One off the biggest things that PS does that LR doesn't is "layers". Learn about them and you're part way there.

Serif Photo Plus also does adjustment layers.adjustment layers is what makes photoshop stand apart from other editing programs.

Top Tip
When you open a photo the first thing to do is Ctrl+J.
That makes a new layer with a copy of the photo called Layer 1-that way you do not alter the original when you are editing
