I.m courious how many others here get photoshop questions over the phone? I seem to be getting more and more from other local togs recently. They'll range from really basic things like wheres the clone tool, to really complex questions about duplicating a certain "look" of another photographer or creating backgrounds, all kinds of things in fact.
As I do work for most of these togs I can't just hang up.
Does anybody else get this???

You need to get yourself a premium rate line for Tech Support questions. They can then ring you and you decide how much to charge. They are free to set-up (you may have to hunt a free one out) and you just pay a % commission to the phone company. Then sit back relax in complete silence.

Hi Wayne. Sounds like you are being taken advantage of. Always difficult when you care about what you do, as inevitably you will want to help others improve. Whilst I would not phone you, I have been fortunate to benefit from your advice through ther forums - so a big thank you from me.

Once you start it's hard to stop. You need to be "too busy to deal with just now"! i get it all the time from friends and work colleagues and not just about photoshop!

Yes I am being taken advantage of to a certain extent, but as I say I get a fair bit of work off these people (or most them anyway) so I can't afford to upset them too much.

I would doubt they have any bad motives so getting taken advantage of may seem a little strong. But it wouldn't be bad to tell them to "call back in a couple of days as you are just too busy"- - this then puts in their mind again that time is money and you have a living to make! I've had that and after I said that (very politely) it did slow down however as you say you have to balance that against the work you get from them!
