Hi guys

I'm about to apply to join my work's web development/photography dept. One of the tasks will be selecting images using the lasso tool for placement on backgrounds for the website.

This is one area of PS that I'm not really familiar with, so can anyone point me towards a good tutorial?

I know there's loads of PS stuff online, but I was hoping someone would be able to recommend any in particular, or offer any advice here.

I've got a week or 2 to practice my skills, and the possibility of being able to play with a D3x and get paid for it is a great incentive!

Thanks in advance :-)

There's not really that much to learn - it's drawing around a shape and then refining your selection by adding/subtracting to/from your initial selection.

I prefer to use masks. You could perhaps try the Quick Mask tool to see if you prefer it. More advanced selections (like hair, for example) will almost certainly require working with channels.

 thats an understatement if ever I heard one :D, depends on how detailed the selection needs to be its not just a question of drawing around the shape heres a good tutorial for refining edges after using a quick selection tool, rather than the lasso
