Photoshop Image Numbering

I have obviously inadvertantly tweaked something as when I now import TIFF images from Canon DPP into Photoshop (CS2) the image numbers are being shown as _MG_XXXXtrial. They used to be shown as IMG_XXXXtiff. Can anyone help?

If it's the same protocol as with Canon cameras _MG is for images that are saved in Adobe RGB , IMG is for sRGB. Why? I haven't a clue, I suppose some one somewhere needs to know, but most modern software can find that information from the image file.

Edited to remove duff info. Chappers is right ref the color space, but what are yourfile extensions showing as. Is it IMG_XXXXtif or .tif. Dont know where the "trial" bit comes from. Presumed you've shot in ARGB though and converted to sRGB in DPP.

The info above regarding IMG and _MG is spot-on, as for the xxxtrial , I suspect that you are batch processing these in DPP and have at sometime put "trail" in the Current file name string box

I never cease to be amazed at the level of knowledge available on this site. I suspect, like most, that I "take" more than I "give" in respect of advice but - perhaps - one day this will change and I will become a contributor.

Mark solved one problem ( I had previously named a string "trial") and John solved the other (I am now using Adobe RGB).
