Hi all, I am hoping that someone would be able to point me in the right direction. A friend had some fishing photos taken, and on being sent them, found that the perspective is all wrong.
I was told there is possibly a filter that can be applied to help change this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this was the fishing session of a life time and he is gutted they have turned out as they have.
Thank you.

Both Lightroom and Camera RAW have the ability to correct / alter both perspective and distortion.

Has he asked to original photographer to see if they can correct them? Alternatively, if he get's the photographers permission, someone here might be willing to have a bash.

Perspective? Distortion maybe?

Without seeing one I (and others) will be struggling to help.

In the recent versions of PS it’s in filters at the top end of the dropdown.

Or shortcut...... shift/ctrl/r.

Rhodese.

EDIT.

I may have misunderstood the question,
It might be that you want to transform the perspective, in which case it’s in the Transform tool you need, EDIT / TRANSFORM / PERSPECTIVE.

I don't think he is talking much to the camera man to be honest. ..oops. I can't access the transform drop down, as it's greyed out.

Is because you are working on a background layer?

Try creating a working layer by clicking on the background layer and dragging it over the new layer icon at the bottom of the panel, it looks like a page of paper with the corner turned down.

Alternatively, drag the lock on the background layer into the bin/trash.

You may also have to select all.

I hope that works for you.

Filters > distort > lens correction

From memory in cs2.

Gives a horizontal and vertical perspective distort correction option.

I suspect it not lens correction thats the issue, I'de be guessing and say either the fish is too close to the camera, or the ratio of the image is wrong.

Perspective is controlled solely by viewpoint, and you certainly cannot "correct" it in software.
If "the perspective is all wrong" then it's because the camera was in the wrong place.
The only way you can change the perspective is to change the position of the camera, and if the photos are already taken then it's a bit too late.

It would seem Adobe disagree with you.

I believe all that tool does is correct converging verticals or keystoning, which have nothing to do with perspective, only viewpoint..
It's a poor choice of description for the tool.

Perspective relates to the spatial distance between objects in a picture, and as I said, is solely affected by viewpoint.
I hate to quote Wikipedia, but in their definition they say "Note that linear perspective changes are caused by distance, not by the lens"

I'm in Brian's camp on this one. Having read the OP's post I have no idea what the issue is. If its a distortion type deal though we can tackle that.

Any chance of popping one up so we can have a look and maybe advise you better, obviously with the relevent permissions etc.
