I want to make an HDR image from a single file. What is the best way to turn down (an up) the exposure in PS by exactly 1 or 2 stops?

I can't work it out but then again I might be missing something very obvious! :D

I think you need to shoot in RAW. Then when the raw converter opens adjust exposure for each file and then save as TIFF each time. Does that make sense? If not this tutorial taught me how to do it:)

If you're using Photomatix you can open the RAW file straight into it without having to create different files.

If you are trying to make an HDR from a single JPEG it will turn out very noisy if pushed to far.
