Photoshop Elements vs CS

Just a general question for discussion.

I edit my photos in Photoshop Lightroom and Photoshop Elements 6.

But I often wonder if working in Elements rather than CS is setting me back.

Is there a huge difference between the two and are edits more effective in CS.

I was wondering about updating my Elements to 8 or 9 but again not sure if it is worth it.

Well you could always download a trial version of Photoshop CS5 and try for yourself. You could also do the same with Elements.

It's the only way to really find out. I suspect the current version of Elements has made some significant improvements over 6

I have both Lightroom and CS4 and find I seldom have to go into Photoshop except for some cloning and a bit of work with the transform tool. Not sure if the transform tool is available in Elements, but if it was I'd be happy with Elements
 
I have CS3 and have downloaded Elements 9, which to all extents & purposes, is covering everything I need to do. I also run LR2.

I have had to switch to Elements (long story) and I miss the editing capabilities of CS and find that my images don't look as sharp or I can't get the desired effects in Elements and my images are suffering because of that :(

Given the choice between any of the packages I would choose CS any day of the week.
