Hi I am new to photography and so bought myself a copy of elements 7 and loaded it onto the pc, and as my luck goes met a mate at the weekend that said ah wished you had said blah blah blah.
Well last night he dropped me off cs2 so tonight i have loaded that onto my pc, no from a first glance they look exactly the same.

I was on the understanding the the cs version was more of a proffesional version and the elements was what the average joe in the street uses.

Now because they taking up space on the pc my question is what is the difference between the 2 and which one should i keep and really be using.

Thanks

Spike

p.s hope this is in the right section

elements is as said elements of the CS versions, it good for newbies to image editing and those who dont do much of it. if i was you i qould keep cs2 and save elements as a backup just in case.

Elements is a "slimmed" down version of the full photoshop aimed more at the amateur/beginner market. CS2 on the other is the full professional version, it's more comlicated to use but has a lot more options and features.
As mastertrinity says, I'd also keep elements as a back-up and use CS2.

Thanks guys

Just found one really usefull tool, it opens my raw files so there is one benefit straight away.

Keeping cs2

Elements will open your raw files too, but then I wish I had friends that would just give me £500 software.

i see the later versions of CS is CS4, so assumed CS2 is old and would be cheap(ish) to buy second hand?

If you can find it yes it probably would be cheap, I did look on ebay when looking to buy photoshop but to no avail

Anyway you will never get cheaper than nothing
