Photoshop Elements 7 users - talk to me...

I've had Lightroom for some time and never really been all that happy with some of the ways it operates. I also find the need to switch over to Photoshop (CS) for other things irritating. I could, I think, quite happily move to Elements for cataloging, viewing and simple editing.

I'm thinking of getting Elements 7. I don't use the advanced features of Photoshop anyway, and even an upgrade is going to cost me hugely.

So, users of Photoshop Elements 7 - what do you think, does it do all you need? Is it fast/stable/reliable?

Looking forward to hearing yours thoughts and opinions!

I don't use elements 7 but I do use elements 5 and the photo organiser that comes with elements is a very large pile of poo. I have given up using it, I don't konw if it has been improved in version 7 but for me it is the biggest sour note of a very good program.

I like it a lot. I only shoot RAW, but if you only shoot jpeg that's fine too.
Once the program is opened it is fast enough if you have adequate RAM (it advises 1Gb minimum).

Like exendistart I don't use the organiser. I just use My Pictures in WXP.

Not into the advanced features yet, but steadily progressing.
I recommend Scott Kelby's book if you go for PSE.
 
I use elements 7 and its great , does everything i want

to be fair i'm no expert and i'm only just scratching the surface of its true potential

i got mine off amazon for £30 , bargain
 
I have Elements 7 and CS4(which i got free from an employee of HP) i like elements, its layed out pretty well and easy to use. It allows me to manipulate to the level i need, occasionally i use CS4 to do a few extra things such as curves manipulation is easier.

I would definatly reccomend it at hobbiest level
 
I tried several programs and in the end decided to stay with Elements 7.

My wife who was an avid Paint Shop Pro user even converted to Elements 7 after seeing how good it is.
 
Hi

Can I suggest you download the 30 day trial version and see if it does exactly what you want/need it to do? I am in the middle of doing the same, and am pleasantly surprised how much easier it is to use for an amateur.

I have Elements 7 and CS3 and to be honest Elements is a great program for most needs.
 
I'm very happy with elements 7, however I only use it for editing not organizing.

Biggest plus atm is that it's very cheap and is great value. It's 95% the same as elements 6, but I much prefer 7.
 
I use both elements 6 and CS4, elements sticks them all in a dated file for me and i use it for simple pp, CS4 gives me more options, a better flexibility with curves and some neat features like actions. The camera raw conversion gives you more options in CS$ too.

I use PSE7 and still got masses to learn, but it does everything I need and plenty more.

I think the PSE Organizer is rubbish. Far too complex for what is basically a simple task. I use My Pictures in Windows to organise prior to storing pics externally.
 
Xendistar says its a pile of poo, Arclight says its rubbish. What is wrong with a piece of software that automatically puts your files into date order, allows multiple tagging and enables them to be found easily. If you direct the files to My Pictures, that can be used as well. I'm all ears. Constructive criticism is better.

I did say - too complex for what it does. It's a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
My Pictures is about as simple as pc storage gets and does the job perfectly well.
