Just brought photoshop cs5 (extended) and was wandering how people find using it. Its my first editing software and wanted some feedback on what people think.

Thanks guys!!!

Any particular reason why you went for the Extended version? Most people use the standard version.

CS5 is OK - although the Content Aware feature that people go on about is not as good as its made out to be.

Matter of opinion. I've found it invaluable and pretty quick too.

Just an observation, but normally you would ask questions first and then make decision

If it's your first editing software then it might be a bit of a shock, learning curve wise, but there simply isn't anything better for photo-editing/manipulation (among the other things it excels at).

If you're struggling to get to grips with it check out the lynda.com tutorials, they've always helped me learn some new Adobe software.

And don't be afraid to muck about and go nuts. Just work on a copy of the file!

I use Photoshop CS5 and I love it.

If it's your first editing program then you might be a little overwhelmed with the amount of functions and facilities available, there is a steep learning curve as the previous poster said.

Just keep learning and definitely keep copies of the original files, preferably in a different folder or drive.

I've read a number of reviews saying that its OK, but not as great as Adobe want you to think it is. In some cases, I've found the patch tool is often better.

I think the reviewers are a little unfair to adobe in that. Its great and a handy timesaver within its limitations but it always struck me it was the press and not adobe who played it up

This Thread has some great examples of content aware working wonders :D :D :)

Thanks for the response guys....when I say I have brought it, I have actually traded my services as a heating and plumbing engineer for the software. Ill have a go and definatly check out the links provided!!

It wil be a steep learning curve but worth it in the end.
Google CS5 tutorials, You Tube etc to help
Best of luck I would love CS5.....only CS3 at the moment
