I'm not having much luck technology wise these past few days. I downloaded a trial version of Photoshop CS4 so that I could work on my RAW files from my 5DMKII. For the 1st day I used this it was great. Then last night everytime I try to open a RAW file (including the ones that have previously opened) I get an error message:

"Could not complete your request as it is not the right type of document"

:bang:

Just to make things worse the other program I downloaded (picasa) has started automatically darkening every image I open and I have no idea how to get it back to how it should be.

:bang:

I have so much college work, that I'm already behind with, and I feel like screaming at my computer!

You need to download the lates version of ACR for CS4 so that it will read the 5DII files.

Under help in PS you see Software update. Click on that and it will download automatically the latest version for you and install it.

Just watch the updater though as it will try and update all your Adobe apps including Acrobat, which s OK but can take some time.

Just tried that. For some reason the update doesn't work, in that it gets part way through the instalation and "encounters a problem". I've tried it a few times. Closed PS as it asks but it doesn't work.

The thing I don't understand is why it worked yesterday (opening CR2 files) and not today.

I had issues updating CS4 last night. What I ended up having to do was manually download the update from the adobe website. www.adobe.com/downloads and run in manually. Its worth ensuring that there are no other applications running on your computer. Mine caused an issues caused by having firefox running in the background.

Don't know if this will help but it worked for me.

Regards

Pete

If you still have problems download the DNG converter, convert to DNG and then open in CS4.

Bit of a hassle but it'll get you files open.

Also try downloading a trial version of Lightroom ( 2.5) that should open your files.
