Now THAT is clever!

Flashy

Looks like its just an extension to "smart objects". Not that its not clever though

How clever is that? :woot:

Wow, I'm quite amazed at that demo vid  Very clever indeed.

Anther nice feature in CS4 is the ability to combine multiple images with different focus points to increase depth of field. OK I know there are a couple of software packages that do it already, but it's a nice inclusion..

Question is it it worth the nearly £400 for the upgrade. From what I see it will be the extended version of Photoshop only available not the " Standard" form.

Yes, that's another feature that I personally could find quite useful in my property photography.

I'm hoping that the content-aware scaling will work well for more subtle crops and resizes than the ones shown on the training vid. I often have to crop small amounts off one side or other and this could be a quick and easy way to restore aspect ratio without distorting the images features. Might save me a ton of time!

I've put my preorder on with Adobe... please nobody tell Mrs F! :help:

Apologies to Adobe. I thought the new CS4 version of Photoshop was only going to be available in Extended Version . Just received information that the Standard version , with all the goodies, is seems will be available as an upgrade at £165. Not cheap but a lot better

I've just had a look at the tutorial on CS4's new improved toning (Dodge, Burn and Sponge) tools. They look to be a quantum leap better than the old ones with a 'protect tones' function. This essentially means you can dodge and burn skin, for example, and preserve its tonality at the same time so you're not just making it whiter or blacker. I dodge and burn quite a lot but always have to be very subtle and cautious, this should enable you to be much bolder. It looks like it will be a seriously USABLE new feature and not just a gimick.

Ooooooh... just noticed that Camera Raw 5 (the new version with CS4) now has adjustment brushes and graduated filters like LR2! :) </excited mode>
