Photoshop CS3 SLOOOW in Vista

not to hijack this thread but is vista worth it i have a 64 bit amd processor and wondered about vista 64 as an upgrade

The general rule of thumb is only buy a 64bit operating system if you're going to need to be running 64 bit applications. For example - I'm setting up 5 new servers at work, all of which have 64-bit processors in them and can therefore run windows server 2003 64-bit. Only two of them are - the one with the email server (exchange 2007 which is 64-bt only) and the storage server (it came preinstalled) - the others are running 32-bit 2003 server.

There are all sorts of driver issues and application issues, you're better off with the 32-bit version of vista.

In my opinion Vista rocks! I really do like it as an operating system, it makes XP look and feel really dated. It just feels more intuitive and "nice" to use. That's a layman's take on i t anyway ;)

Have you tried running CS3 in compatability mode in Vista that may help?

Glad you got it sorted bud.

As for the Mac v PC v Linux its all a load of c*ck and bull.

That comment might of stemmed from my D200 STILL, yes STILL not working!

King.

With windows vista i have noticed a massive improvement by using a USB2.0 memory key to enable the readyboost function.

I have a Core2Duo 2.14Ghz with 2gb ram and a fast HD and its quicker still with a nice 2gb mem key

Thats an interesting tip, I'll give it a try, thanks ;) I'm all for anything that speeds the system up a bit

Your problem is....Windows is turd. Vista is a polished turd.

Buy a Mac :D

I run Vista Ultimate 64bit and CS3, on a Dual Core AMD Running at 2.2Ghz, with 2Gb RAM, and 128Mb Vid Card, Dual Xerox 19" DVI LCD's and it runs super smooth, and fast as you like.

Just my two pennys worth :)
