I am new to PE 9 & I have the opportunity to go on a 10 week part time course, it sounds like it could be good but are courses generally worth the money? It will cost around £80, or shall I just buy a 'dummies' book.
How do you learn best? Are you comfortable to learn on your own? If so then there are plenty of good books and video tutorials around, plus you can do it in your own time. If on the other hand you learn better with a structured course, having a tutor to help (as well as the other people on the course) then that might be the way to go. Both have advantages and disadvantages.
Theres courses and courses, if the tutors good and knows his/her stuff you can learn a lot, on the other hand if the tutor hasn't a clue your not going to learn much.
Try and find someone whos done the course with the same tutor and see how they felt the course went.

Thank you all for your views I am thinking that buying a book with lots of illustrations may be the way to go, but for the time being I will check out youtube to see how much I can learn on there.
