Hi

I am using am iMac with High Sierra and the latest version of PS from creative cloud. When editing an image everything is fine until I got to apply the changes made using Color EFX Pro, just completely close PS with no error message. I can relaunch and reapply the setting and it works fine.

So it seems to be pretty random. I have tried googling but can't seem to find an answer

Cheers

Do you know if PS CC has updated recently? If so it can sometimes cause Nik to misbehave. If this is the case then uninstall Nik and re-install it and all should hopefully work fine.
If your PS CC has not updated recently then i'm not entirely sure how your problem is manifesting itself.

There was another thread recently which said uninstall and reinstall Nik solved this problem.

OK, so iahve reinstalled NIK and so far so good, no more unexpected closing of PS
Another worthwhile thing is to make sure you have the latest video driver software installed.

Nik crashing PS is a known issue. Hopefully DXO will sort this out on the forthcoming release. I read somewhere that if you turn off the option of applying the effect to a new layer, that helps. I also found saving the image prior to applying a Nik effect helps too.

There probably won’t be a forthcoming release. DXO bought the software for the code so that they can incorporate the technology into their own software.

U point selections are already in DXO Photolab. Whether or not the make use of the filters is anybodies guess, but I doubt very much if NIK collection will be continued.

DXO have already posted that "Nik Collection 2018 Edition" will be released mid-2018. So while they may subsume the tech in Photolab it looks like it will live on for other users too.

In my opinion this is a smart move for DXO as the Nik collection itself isn't enough to pull people away from Photoshop and Lightroom. I expect that it will carry a cost again though, hopefully not to high but I'd be happy to pay for its continued development.
