Photoshop actions problem

...well not a big problem but certainly a puzzle.

I have noticed over the past few weeks that my actions pallet steadily builds up a list of new actions called 'save for web' in the 'My Actions' folder all on its own. The list gets longer and longer until I select them all and drag them to the trash and start again.

Today I have been trying to solve it and have renamed the 'My Actions' folder to 'Keith Actions'. Now, every time I open an image I get a pop up message which says: 'The object set “My Actions”” is not currently available.'. So it appears that the problem is that PS is trying to write a new 'save for web' action in 'My Actions' every time I open an image... but I can't for the life of me see why and how to stop it!

Incidentally, it only happens when I open an image via the 'File-Open' or 'File-Open Recent' drop downs in Photoshop, it doesn't happen if I open it using 'Edit In' from Lightroom.

Am I being 'Mr Thickie' and is it really simple to fix? :)

Check you haven't got the same shortcut set of file open and save for web (or whatever) it shouldn't let you do it really.
I'd try deleting photoshop preferences, that usually solves any odd problems like this.

Thanks for the suggestions, Wayne, unfortunately neither has worked. The shortcuts are different and a reset of preferences hasn't made any difference... I appreciate the try though :)

I would take all my actions out of that folder, create a new one. Delete the all the actions from the palete and then add the them back from your new folder. Remember to restart photoshop each time you change the set up. For example... when moving the actions out of your current folder, start and then close down PS, the same for deleting items from the actions palette.

Hmmm... just tried that, closing and restarting PS religiously at each step, but it's not worked unfortunately, it's still doing it. Thanks for the suggestion though.

It's not a big problem, I can just leave a 'My Actions' folder there to build up a huge list of 'Save For Web' actions... it drives my OCD nuts though! :D

What version of photoshop do you have Keith? and what happenes if you cut all the actions in the folder out (and paste elsewhere to replace later) including the originals (you should get an error message when you start up) and have you installed any scripts?

It's CS5 (12.0.4). I haven't installed any scripts but I'll try what you suggest about moving all the actions out... thanks for that Wayne.

It occurred to me last night that it may not be an issue after all as I'll be upgrading to CS6 as soon as my plug-ins are compatible. :bonk: I installed the CS6 Beta last night and the problem hasn't reappeared with a clean install. I'll just have to make sure to see what, if anything, triggers it off as I put in my actions/brushes/plug-ins etc.
