This year my photographic mission is to start shooting in RAW so i have more options on the post processing. I am currently using photoshop 6.0 as i got it free from work a while back.

I'm using a Canon 400D which is saving the files as a .CR2 file. I can not open the files in photoshop.

I know there is a download or patch to enable me to do this but i can not seem to find the correct one.

Anyone know and can post a linky?

Also i have to replace a file with the downloaded one. Has anyone got guidelines on what to do?

Thanks in advance.

Doh, looked specifically for Photoshop 6.0 and missed that sticky, cheers.

You're a bit unlucky, there is not Adobe camera raw plug-in for Photoshop 6.0 (there's one for Photoshop Elements 6.0, which is something different).

There's a list of free and commercial raw converters in my signature, I suggest trying out the free ones first. RawTherapee and RAWHide are pretty good. You might want to download manuals for them too. Use the Detail checkbox with RawTherapee 2.4.x (and whole image preview no bigger than 1:4) for good performance.

Mmmmm. Looks like i'm going to have to unearth the software i got with the camera and use the Canon RAW convertor. Off to the back of the cupboard!!

I am not sure if PS 6 will open them but you can get the DNG converter then you will have all the benefit of a RAW file

I know that Adobe DNG converter works with PS7, as that is what I started with, so you might be lucky and find that it works with PS6.
