(Hope this is the right section as not sure if this is "off-topic")
As I am based in Germany Photokina is not far from me and am already planning my trip for next year. Yippeeeeee! Great opportunity to look at lots of high tech gear that I will never know how to use. :amstupid:
Has anyone else on here been? Any tips and advice on what to expect ? (other than a very sore credit card bill).
I used to go a lot. It's absolutely huge. The big brands take an entire hall each. Fills the whole complex. You need buses to go from one end to the other.
It's a trade show and used to be quite expensive for the public to get in. You can't buy stuff there. All the gear is there obviously, plus everyone who's anyone to meet and do business.
Apart from the cathedral, Cologne is extremely average, the river stinks and the weather's always crap that time of year.
If you fancy a trip to Las Vegas, the PMA show is there every spring (usually, it moves around a bit - also a trade show). Smaller in terms of square feet, but all the important stuff is there and it's much more manageable, plus Vegas is fun especially if you're on expenses
Many thanks for your replies. I didn't realise it was that big! I am hoping to go with a friend of mine (who is a pro - I am definately not) just to have a drool over the latest launches and lurk around the displays hoping for freebies. Guess parking maybe a problem then.
