Yes
Just a quick question on the above. To anyone who has it, halfway through the application it asks you the 'insured location'. obviously as im getting worldwide cover this is never going to be the same for more than a month at a time, does this matter? Only i would hate to have my gear pinched in iran only to find i was only covered for it being in London! I know this kind of defeats the worldwide cover aspect but i want to be sure my kit is protected

Looks like they are asking for the primary location of your gear.

The best bet though is to clarify this with Photogaurd themselves. They are the only people that can confirm what conditions apply..

Good luck with your trip to Iran ;)

yeah i just tried calling but there is no one there weekends and i leave Monday morning. the website defines it as

''Insured location - this is a single, specified place where you store your equipment, typically your home or studio.''

yet i imagine this is disregarded for worldwide cover by its very nature. i spoke to them on the phone about another matter and they assured me if it was kept in a secure cupboard or locked container or even stolen from my tent (by force) it would be covered. my gut instinct is that the online form is a standard type for all cover and some aspects such as this are not relevant for all cover but still need filling in to comply with the online system

With world wide cover you probably still need to specify a "Home" location. As you say it's probably a standard form. However it's worthwhile , with insurance, getting clarification. Also any exceptions or modifications you should get in writing, most good insurance companies do this anyway

ok, reading the policy it says that the item is covered away from the 'insured location' from theft, damage, loss etc if it is

not left unattended
or
the item is locked away in a cupboard or box and any security devices have been made operational.

just dont let the thing out of your sight! would be my reading from this little nugget!!

im pretty happy its covered, the 'insured location' is obviously there for a reason and a lot of my cover is disregarded being away from the country but its still a great comfort to have the kit insured for a year away from home to some degree. keep it locked up, keep an eye on it! it seems that violent theft is covered so long as its not unattended which is good to know!
