How the rules on domain names have been relaxed, when will everyone be changing their web address to www.****.photography

It's certainly going to make it easier when thinking up website names.

Sadly ICANN has thought of the usual domain land grabs. Domains which use registered trademarks will be allocated to the trademark holder. If a domain squatter gets there first ICANN will just reallocate the name... or so their spokesman said on the radio the other day.

Also you need to demonstrait you know hot to ADMINISTER it. I don't know how many domain squatters can do that.

I wouldn't get too excited about it.......................

However, the cost of setting up a domain - at least initially - will be an expensive business.

so basically its a premium thing then. well, thats a bit pants isnt it

Not really.. I'd imagine it'll go a similar way to .com .co.uk et al... With the exception of some like .bank being for banks, or .cocacola, .nestle, .pepsi etc etc being kept for their respective owners.

Something like .photography could conceivably be sold to the masses at a reasonable cost.
