thanks

Where to start...?
What do you take pictures of, where and why ?
OK, I too like available light, and for me, people seem to be the subject.
If you want to take the time to give some (lots) more information, I or others may be able to help.
What do you want to show ? Are you happy to push the ISO up ? Subject ? Where ?
I too have the 24-70, and here is an example of what I think is good use of natural light
Tell us more....

i dont really wanna push the iso up

i want to take pictures of people, portrait shoots, some outside some inside. fun, natural, comtempory photos

depends entirely on the strength of the light source!! :)

This answers your question so well I'm quoting it.

Asking for specifics is impossible to answer as the light will be different in every location, at different times of the day and under different weather conditions. Basically if it's dark you'll need to use wide apertures and high ISOs unless you like blurry shots. If it's bright you won't.

The things you want to take pictures of is nothing to do with camera settings. Getting better pictures is down to composition and using the light you have to your advantage.

You really should provide more information about what conditions you want to be shooting under, you obviously have a situation in mind also if you want to be relying on natural light only you should concider pushing ISO up especially in shady areas or indoors or wanting to capture momement.

I do not use canon but i am pretty sure the 40D is very capable at higher ISOs
