I would imagine that a few people on here would share my interest in all the little bits and bobs of photography that come along with older cameras. There's something about the tactility of analogue that attracts collectors! So, what do you have in your collection alongside the cameras?!

For my last birthday my Mum got me this incredible Agfa film display that had come from a shop closing down. It even had around 20 rolls of in date film in it;

I'm now on the hunt for old and interesting looking 35mm film boxes to fill it with. Obviously the old yellow kodak ones would look excellent but they cost a fortune online. The only thing I've found so far that's a little out of the ordinary is a Colorama box (actually my friend found it in a skip!);

If anyone has any cool looking boxes they want to send my way then I wouldn't complain! I found a link to a printable repro of the kodak box online but it wouldn't open anymore, anyone know if this exists anywhere else?

that Agfa "filmrack" brings back a few memories... mainly of my mates old photo-processing shop...

there's one in the background in this shot...

(I should point out that the "decent" film was kept in a film-fridge behind the partition wall (in the studio section of the shop...) - the "rack" basically just had the standard mass market stuff, whereas the "pro" film and all the 120 and LF film was in the cooler ;))

Good grief, I recall when I was a teen, the shop at the top our road was the sort that was a papershop in one half, grocers in the other. The papershop part was an Aladdin's cave of stuff you might need, and they had one of those film dispensers just next to the chocolate bars. Film and chocolate, sounds like a good time to me :lol:

That photo could be a still from High Fidelity if you swapped the photo gear for records! I'm still keeping my film in the fridge, which is why I'm looking for some old boxes to fill the rack with, it doesn't look as cool empty!

As for ephemera; An old packet of Ilford contact paper

And a negative / print envelope for Selo film (The fast film!). I'd never even heard of the brand before finding this;

I'm thinking of putting them in frames to have on the wall, really nice designs and type on them I think.

I've just had a rummage in a couple of drawers in my darkroom and came up with this:

The Johnson Photo Tint Outfit was given to me by a cousin around 1960; the enlarger time switch (price £3"10"0 can be read on the box) is still used; as is the Paterson certified thermometer at the top. The cannister contains a 20exp Tri-X; the canister bottom left is marked Ferrania CR50 and does contain something - but I'm not going to investigate in the light!

I tastefully arranged some chocolate in the photo as a work of supererogation.

Somewhere I have a 1/3d pactum of Farmer's Reducer (which does not make agricultural personages smaller, probably contrary to the Trades Descriptions Act) which I failed to locate.

Good tip about the fridge - I may look there later.

Love the idea of all this stuff. It'd look great on the wall of my sh*thole...sorry, that should say incredibly tidy office.

T'missus and I were in Amsterdam last year and popped into a small camera shop, looking for film. We were looking at the stuff on the shelf and I said to her that it was a shame they didn't have any Portra. The guy behind the counter opened a fridge and asked, "do you want 160, 400 or 800?" I didn't know he'd been listening to us :D

I've also got a couple of the metal Kodak pots;

The 35mm from these would be ace!

Oops, sorry!

On topic - Only in Finland would fishing floats be seen as prime advertising space;

View attachment 29733

I don't know if any other film branded floats exist, I've only ever seen these two.

@trevormc if you'd like to put an ad in the classifieds perhaps we could have the film for the TP Megameet F&C section? Happy to pay the postage.
