Hello everybody

I've only been getting into photography for the last month or so and i'm still very unsure what all the technical things are about, like ISO and aperture and because of this i still shoot on auto mode. So getting to my question are there any photography books that could help me with this? I've heard that 'Understanding Exposure' is good but are there any better ones?

Thanks in advance:)

I have understanding exposure and I have to say its a great book and very good at teaching you about aperture and other things. It would be a great plae to start.

I too rate Understanding Exposure
It will have you out of Auto mode within 10 minutes of starting reading

Wasn't impressed with Understanding Exposure and glad I only got it from the library, couldn't get on with the authors style (too full of himself although his missus is rather attractive)

Although this book is aimed at landscape photgraphy I thought it explained the fundamentals in a much clearer way
Not full of photoshop tuition like so many others and some great pictures too

There's a whole series of books by David Prakal; Basics Photography: Exposure is very clear and to the point.

I think it's been posted before on here but I'll post it again

I use http://www.bestphotographybooks.com/ to look for some books, but also it links you to the amazon.com website to buy them so I have a look at reviews on there aswell

if you want a 'shopping list' as to how to achieve certain types of shot, I'd recommend Scott Kelbys Digital Photographys books - they assume you know nothing and give step by step instructions how to achieve the desired results.

good luck, and I'm looking forward to seeing you progress! :)

Understanding Exposure and The Photographers Eye are the books often recommended
