Hi folks, I posted this question in the general talk and did not get a reply so hoping someone out there can help - will I be able to take kit in to St James' Park - haven't been for a long time and have tickets for the Boxing day match. Hope to hear from someone in the know. Thanks

Its the same as other grounds and only DataCo license holders are "suppose" to have cameras in.

SJP seems more relaxed on things than other grounds and you see plenty of DSLR's kicking around before and after the game (front rows to)

Where abouts are you sitting? Its risking and being refused entry on boxing day would be frustrating. I wouldn't risk it but there will be plenty of people there who do, and get away with it...

about sums it up.. if you dont take it you could be sat next to someone wiht a 70-200 lens snapping away all day.. if you do take it you could be refused entry.... bit of a gamble.. the rules say no... so you cant argue if stewards stop you entereing or throw you out....one sided gamble then..

if you do take it and get some pics... you cant post them on here or mods will remove them and warn you.. anywhere else would have simmilar rules.. bar facebook who let you post whatever you want it seems..

Difficult to assess all that but as I see it if you DO take pictures and publish online (and are you are not an authorised photographe)r you are in breach of ground regulations only. Not a lot that can be done after you've left is there.
The datacom stuff seems to apply to photpgraphers who have, or wish to apply for, the rights to take and publish photographs at Premier League and other matches.

I could of course be wrong.

I'm not getting into an argument as to whether pictures should be allowed on this site. If the mods say NO then it's no.

Probably why you would not see a season ticket holder with a camera..

however you look at it.. postiing such pictures means you are doing somehtign wrong.. either breakign dataco rules if you ahve a licence or breaking ground rules if you dont... both break rules... just because nothing much can be done about one doesnt make it any less right?

Again.. I do not agree wiht most of the rules...I dont see anything wrogn with publishing pics.. if only licenced photogrpahers are allowed to sell them then whats the problem... I am not advocating the rules.. just answering your questions :)
