Photography apprenticeship ?

No.

In short, lol.

There IS commercial assisting work about, but it is its own specialised field with a set of skills. Wedding or portrait assisting might well be easier to get into as long as you make a good impression and above all are reliable and presentable.

There MAY be some offered at the family portrait studios, try barrat + co and venture if that's your bag. Pretty sure they both require at least a HND in photography though.

Check the BJP website. Cruise ship photography is one option that's pretty much always hiring...

My advice would just be to get out there and shoot everything that you possibly can, and on top of that, find more stuff to shoot. There's no set career path in this industry *really*, so just take as many pictures as possible :)

You may find a few people on here willing to allow you to help.... The question was asked a few weeks back. But you'll not likely gety a job. Like Dave says, just get out, shoot lots and make images in the area you want to shoot in and get a good web site to display your skills.

Ask as you have done. You'll not get an apprenticeship here though that's for sure. Are you going to college? Have you any qualifications?

Get out and shoot yourself is the best way - look at images you like and try to replicate then put your own stamp on it.....

No doubtr it's tough and people in your area will not want to train you only for you to set up on your own in competition with them.

I get a few emails from people like yourself looking for some work but really I don't need that person for photography. My neice can hold a reflector/flash if needed and that's it. All you can do is ask around your area and hope for some good luck. Above all else keep shooting and build up a good portfolio. Remove images you are not proud of as the bad will likely make more impact than the good when showing a portfolio of images.

What not to do:

earlier tonight I had my first ever call asking about this.

The call literally went

'Hi do you offer work experience?'
'no, not really'
'oh ok bye'

at least bloody introduce yourself first!
