I don't use "apps". For the PP I do, I use PhotoShop Elements 12, a proper programme rather than a (usually) hobbled application.

I'm guessing this is referring to phone apps as the only other post the OP has made was on the mobile photography thread which seemed to elude to an app I'm guessing the OP might soon attempt to plug....

For the OP, my preferred "app" is Lightroom for Windows. Couldn't care less about phone apps as I rarely use my phone for photography.
