Photographing the photographer.

I have a request to make to all member of Talk Photography. I am starting a project that has been in planning a while now. Photographing the Photographer. My goal is to produce a large body of work that is dedicated to pictures of photographers. The idea is to show the complete diversity of the people that shoot for pleasure, profit, full time, amateur or even beginner. Most photographer I know hate having there picture taken themselves but I for one find that being on the other side of the lens can add a little perspective. I am looking for volunteers, initially from the North West of the UK and North Wales, who would take a small amount of time to pose for a photograph. It is not for financial gain on my part but purely a personal project. It will not cost you anything and I will let you have copies of the photographs. I will come to you, a location of your choice and it might be a five minute deal or it could be a couple of hours depending on where and when. Are you a landscape photographer? Would you like to be photographed in a landscape setting? A studio photographer, that wants photographing in there studio. Your choice. I hope to expand this to cover the whole country quite quickly.
I have approached a few big name professionals and so far all have said yes, but until details have been worked out I can’t name names.

Good luck with the project, I think you have set yourself quite a challenge. I fit in the "hate having my photo taken box" ;)

Thanks for all the replies so far and the offers of help. I will be taking everyone that answers up on it at some point this year hopefully:eek:

I had kind of hoped that more from the north west would come forward, even some of the mods :D hint hint.

I am in Surrey so if you are this way any time i am willing to help out, i also come under the "hate my picture taken"

Seriously, I can't stand it!

But in the interest of art and because I like the sound of the project I'd be willing to help out if you're ever in the Manchester/Stockport area.

Don't suppose you'll venture as far as Lincolnshire...but if you do, am happy to help! As is my business partner..but she doesn't know this yet!
 
This would be a grood chance to get some port foily pics for my site and if you could make it to Selby or York i would love to help and i dont think its too mutch to offer sum of the pettrol cost so please keep me in mind

I'm on the Hampshire / Berkshire / Surrey border if you're ever this far south!
 
Just spotted this thread... don't suppose you'd travel as far as Chester :lol: :D :lol:

I generally spend time behind the camera... but wouldn't mind helping out at some point :)

Let me know if you fancy a local shoot, somewhere in town perhaps?
 
Apologies to everyone that has responded. I have had a work enforced internet embargo due to being in the middle of a dessert in the middle east!! Not happy.
Should be back to normal by the end of the day and I can get in contact with everyone.

Another from Manchester/Stockport and I could actually use a pic of me for my website and other than some taken by highly unscrupulous fellow photographers (yes YOU Hugh!) at various meets I actually don't have a pic of myself because as you pointed out I detest having my pic done, I'd rather go to the dentist.

But if you are willing (read mad enough) then that's two of us near Stockport. :)
