I have tried taking photos of snow today, but they have just come out blurred and havent captured the feature of the snow as we look at it.
What settings do I need for my Kodak P880 to capture good pictures of snow falling.

Thanks.

Sorry for the temporary hijack. Normal service shall be resumed...... now.

Damn - they said on the weather there was going to be snow going from Liverpool to Sheffield - was hoping to catch an edge of it, but nothing! :(

Erm...settings. Not sure of exact settings but remember snow is going to be bright (mostly) so if you camera allows it, meter for the sky or something on the ground that isnt snow. That or just always use a different shutter speed than it suggests, though thinking about it, it should be suggesting a fairly quick shutter speed as it thinks its very bright! - maybe your blur is coming from being out of focus - again try focusing on something that isnt snow - there might not be enough detail for an auto focus to lock onto in snow.

Sorry I couldnt be more help.

The only tip I can think of for snow is to overerexpose a bit. The bright whiteness of the snow fools the cameras' sensor making it underexpose the shot so the snow seems grey.

Show us one of the pics you took, maybe we can give a better solution once we've seen it.

Overexpose by 1 to 1.5 stops otherwise the snow will look grey

Very embarassing pictures.

Ah, snow falling!, you'll need to use a fast shutter speed and flash to get the close up flakes frozen in air if that's what you were hoping for (which means being out in it, not nice and warm behind a window ;) ).

ah, didnt think of falling snow.

Yeah you need a fast shutter speed, which means opening up the aperture, which then means you get a shallower depth of field - so its a tough one as the snow wont tend to fall in the same place. The speed of the shutter related to how fast the snow is falling, its a lot easier when its big floaty flakes, when its coming down pretty fast as it seems to be there, then its a pain in the ass :)
