Photographing London and Security (vid)

About time this started getting resolved. Some security guards have no clue but still bring up anti terrorism act! I was subjected to this behaviour in the bullring (Birmingham) and just couldn't be bothered to argue so went on my way :(

I thought the video was very, very positive.

Too many times I've seen police acting like idiots on this issue, and it's very nice to see them apply common sense :).

I do have sympathy with security guards as if someone does do photography of a building then there's a crime committed in the near future it could be their rear ends being whipped by their bosses. However, they and their superiors do have to show common sense and respect to photographers if they are in public place.

I've been put off going to London by the videos of police / security being idiots on this issue, but this video is encouraging. Police turned up and pretty much put the security guards in their place. Police seemed friendly enough after hearing horror stories about photographers being treated. I'd always ask for a police person to turn up if security think I am being suspicious.

I have no problem if a officer asks me what I am doing as he or she is just doing their job.

Excellent and positive video in my own view.

Excellent stuff. Every photographer should see this - and it should be required viewing for security guards. Anyone who gets hassled for filming in this way should send this link to the management of the building and the company who operates from it.

The security guards dont want people to photograph their building from public areas but they quite happily have cameras pointing at public areas
