Photographing in a Club !?

hi , my friend has a party coming up in april and im gonna do the photos for her , as the lightings gonna be bad i was wondering if anybody on here could help me out with some tips or advice of how to get some good photos ?

I have a Nikon D80 :D with a 18 - 55mm VR lens

any help much appreciated,

may be worth investing in a speedlight. I've got the SB800 and it's well worth the money.

also, check WB etc before hand or shoot in RAW to not have to worry about that
 
ISO 800, 1/60th shutter speed, F4, should give you some results, also use a flah if you have one
 
ok , thanks for your help , my dad just gave me one of hes external flashes what a difference !!
 
Nope, 1/60th is far too fast for club stuff. It will just knock out the background and make it all black...looks rubbish.

You want 1/10 or slower. Get a flashgun too and set it to rear sync flash.

ISO 800 - 1600, lens wide open.
 
Shoot manual with the flash on TTL metering and second curtain sync. Expose for the background lighting with the appropriate ISO, aperture and shutter speed and let the flash take care of the subject.

You should get nice swirly background lighting effects if you go for a longish shutter speed and move the camera a little during the exposure.
