I have just acquired my Yorkshire CC Press Pass to photograph local games. I am new to photographing cricket so are in need of a few pointers. Will my Yorkshire CCC Press Pass get me in to Scarborough and Headingley or just Headingley?

Now i have got my press pass is there a system in which to attend the games? Is it by fax to the media department as with football?

Is it best to just send images to the local papers from the games I attend? Or phone/email local papers asking if any images are needed or commissions covered?

How does copyright work with getting my own pass, I am not too sure?

Any help would be grateful...

regards

Kevin

For your first two questions & last one surely contacting YCC here http://www.yorkshireccc.com/the-club/contact-us/37

For the newspapers I imagine Kipax will come along to help. However I think he's got a busy busty weekend, so be patient.

Others may be along to help soon as well.

How do you get a press pass to a county cricket ground with no experience of photographing cricket and no connections at a newspaper?

It's yet another one of the minority sports he covers, it's very similar to lady bogey rolling but topless.

Thanks for all the comments everyone,
Hi cornishboy, I do have contacts and thats is how I have acquired a CCC press pass to photograph local games. I cover Championship football, Football League 1,2 and lowers leagues when required. Cricket is something new I am starting to cover.

Cricket is something I am interested in, to gain published work from local papers so I can apply for my ECB accreditation next season. Sadly I was refused the ECB this year.

Hi Gary, yeah I Know Kipax really well as we have crossed paths a lot over the years, he covers Accy, Top Guy. I never thought of asking Kipax, yeah I know he is really busy, he said so last time I saw him.

I just need a few pointers, I have emailed James Butler and are just waiting on a reply from him at YCCC.

Any info anyone can offer on cricket rules for photographers would be grateful

heyup :)

I do a lot of cricket and am currently turning down stuff because I know all my weeknds are booked over summer for cricket.. However all mine is done for Lancashire league which is quite localised..certainly not county level.. i would be surprised if you can sell any of those.. everyone who want them at that level is probably sorted already... regulars.. but tha never knows.. worth a try i guess:)

Hi Tony, sounds like your really busy. I am still trying to find out as much info as I can on Cricket as its another Sport I can add to my duties while football is not on. I live 30 mins away from Headingley so it is very close by too. I am going to give it a try like you say.
