Hi Guys :)

I did a search but could not find what i was after so...

I am off to Japfest in Bath next weekend and i have a general idea of photographing car shows but i still have a few questions that are really niggling my brains

they are

1. I am taking my sony a200 with a sony 18-70 and 55-200mm, a hoya cpl and uv filter and a petal lens hood, is there any other items you would recommend i take or buy (or not for that matter)

2. anything in particular i should keep an eye out for? I have been warned about photographing black cars as they are hard to get a decent exposure on, is that correct?

3. Any other little snippets of advice or things to avoid? i will be trying to get all sorts of shots on the day, from track shots to show stands and inbetween

Thanks in advance for any help everyone, heres hoping for good shots next weekend :bonk:

There's a few of us going down (posted in the meet section)...

I'll be parked up on the MX5 Stand although more than likely won't be spending much time there to be fair, I want to get as many snaps as possible although checking the weather forecast there is an 85% chance of rain so waterproofs maybe a good idea for the day! Typical I've just sorted a soft top for the weekend!!!!!

I've only tried taking photo's of motorsport myself the once and never played at a car show so it's going to be a case of trail and error and filling a few SD cards...

2 things to try to avoid...
try to avoid people walking in front or behind the car... may seem obvious but you'll be suprised how hard it is to get a good shot without people hovering around the car.

And try to avoid taking pictures standing up looking down at the car... its how every other person walking about will take them, try different angles and crouching down.

Nah. I'm firmly of the opinion that people can improve a photo of a car at a show :)
