Photographer Killed by beaver

When I saw the title I thought it should have been in the Nude and Glamour Section :)

Beavery careful out there!

Must admit this one was knawing away at my curiosity so much I had to see what it was about. Dam Beavers!!!

Good job there are separate forums for different subjects, else i'd have had to coerce the missus into making the next round of tea, before opening this thread......

I Have just returned from the cafe and was reading the paper

One article cough my attention

A photographer was at a lake abroad and noticed a beaver , when photographing the animal it attacked him biting through a main artery in the mans leg , this caused huge blood loss , his mates tried to save him but were unsuccessful :(

Sad very Sad

We have a lot of beavers on the river Tay - I must remember to wear my big boots.

He was not a photographer

So why did he have a camera ? or are people with cameras taking photos not called photographers ?

Or maybe you got out of the wrong side of bed this morning

Just read the first thread on this (which was posted yesterday) which I linked to, and these are the first 2 sentences.

"A fisherman has been bitten to death by a beaver after trying to take its photograph.
The man was on a fishing trip at Lake Shestakov in Belarus with two friends when they spotted the animal on the side of the road."

....so no,I didn't get out of the wrong side of bed this morning but you obviously want an argument about this.

Not everyone who has a camera is a photographer and for all we know he was trying to take the beavers picture on his phone.

Does that then , by your reckoning, make everyone who owns a mobile phone with a camera a photographer?

Bring it on!

what happened to the beaver?

So the man was a fisherman ? is that his profession?

or was he a bus driver having a day off and decided to go fishing took a camera with him the got bitten by a beaver

If I go fishing for the day does that make me a fisherman ? better not take a stove with me or I will be a chef

For crying out loud - this was a guy on a fishing trip (not a fisherman, professionally) who had a camera and tried to gt a photograph (not a photographer, professionally) but got caught up in an event which ended his life and left god only knows morning his demise.

When we are finished with the pedantics over how we should address his hobbies, maybe we should extend a little fricking sympathy to his family and friends.

However, I will bear this information in mind when I next visit W Scotland and try to seek these little critters out...they are clearly well versed in unarmed combat. :suspect:

No matter whether you are a nuclear engineer, banker, gymnast, surgeon or page 3 girl, be aware, and respectful of , the unpredictable nature of wild animals.

 Was the Beaver a Beaver? Or was it a Gopher in drag

I feel sorry for him and his family as this is one of those tongue in cheek Steve Irwin awards. If you think a Beaver is harmful, just look what a rabbit can do :(

PMSL, this thread is hilarious!!!!

I know it shouldn't be said but this thread is suffering with a few Teething problems......

the thing that worries me is what happened to the beaver?
usually in these matteres the poor animal gets the crap beaten out of it for doing its thing.

Nah, these Beaver sounds like Chuck Norris!!!!! lol

Very true, From reading the news, I can only assume that the guy got down on his knees just that bit too close, have you seen the size of the teeth on a beaver? Skin would be light work for these guys! It's the same for people who climb over zoo safety fences and approach the boundary fence to get the 'ultimate' shot of a bear before it pulls them against the fence.....

Death by beaver....shouldn't this be in the nudes and glamour section :naughty:

Oh come on. Multiple threads on the same subject, but the same joke in them too?

Nah. Unless the animal has to be destroyed and then you'll the the far more obvious 'Gratuitous Beaver Shot'.

Come on people, bit of respect for the poor man that lost his life, it's not like he's Margaret Thatcher!

Sounds like it could have been rabid, its not uncommon and not uncommon for them to attack when they have rabies, its happened plenty of times stateside, he just got unlucky as it sounds like it bit deep enough to hit his femoral artery.

Maybe the thread title needs to change to "Man, who enjoyed leisure activities including fishing and photography (and possibly a drink with friends and maybe listening to Belorussian folk music for all we know) killed by animal that appeared to be a beaver but the identity of which has not been irrefutably proved through scientific examination". Of course, without an autopsy we cannot be sure he was actually killed by the beaver-like animal...
