Photographer Taryn Simon spent four years capturing America's best-kept secrets during a recent project in which she gained access to highly-restricted research areas as well as other facilities the public would never see.

Well I have to say that was really disappointing, what was so secret about the deathrow cage, the telecoms cable and the body farm, in fact any of them?

If he/she was paid for that then they got money for the preverbial old rope.

I think that, as always, there's hyerbole in the title to attract initial interest. To be fair, the only boast was that she was allowed access to sites the public are generally not.

Some captivating images and I particularly liked the nuclear waste shot.
