So I ordered some 4 x6 pics the other day. I have probably ordered about 800 over the last year and I always make my picture 4 x 6 first, then upload then have the shrink to fit ticked.

Always in the past the pic has fitted completely on a picture. This time the 20 pics I had done had a white border around, about 3 mm. So I checked the pic and it is 4 x 6 and I check all the setting I used. I check the photobox preview and no white border :bang:

I can see this is one for customer services, but I'm annoyed

dont worry i used jessops, and they resized half my photos, but not the other half... and i cant understand why... so half are too big and half are ok... go figure... but when i looked at the size on of the pic on the file they are ALL the SAME size... i dont understand it?

well i got an email today from customer support in which they ignored what i said and telling me shrink to fit will give a white border, and crop would lose a part of the pic. The silly bit is that the pics were in the correct aspect ratio, so would fit exact, no white border, no cropping. And have always worked in the past.

So I await their further reply

Good luck to you - I posted a thread recently about my experiences - I was given a refund and told to lighten my larger print files to suit their printers..(I send off files to be printed at different sizes, and got back totally different coloured prints)
I won't be using them again - customer services are good, but why not print them right first time round ?
I am now using LeeP at togsprint and am bowled over by what he has done so far..granted, he is not quite as cheap, but if cheap means low quality, then photopox is cheap, LeeP is high quality for a little bit more !

I know it sounds stupid but you did not order 6x4 bordered prints by mistake did you.

After talking to Photobox it would seem that shrink to fit will now ALWAYS create a white border around a photo, and that there is a glitch in their software so it looks like the red frame is totally around the photo.

Advice was to always use Crop to, even if it is the correct ratio.

Methinks I will give Photobox the elbow now.. what with this and the dark photo scenario.

I have this issue with photobox. But I also used to get a similar thing with processed film. Unless you asked for a hand print. If I have a 4x6 ratio photo I expect it ALL to fit any size with that ratio. My last lot of prints which were reasonably important I used togs print, who is a member on TP.
I'll still use photo box, to send off non-important holiday snaps that family member want etc, but not for quality prints. I (and others) need a service we can rely on. Togs prints was very good with my first order.

I don't undrstand why shrink to fit would give a border, surely that's shrink to not fit?

I don't know what about the borders, but I have stopped using Photobox for anything than silly holiday snaps a few months ago. These guys lowered their print quality so badly that now it's just unacceptable... Togsprint and PeakImaging are the way to go for me :)

It is a real shame as I always used to use them and they have printed thousands for me but after the fiasco last year with them having to reprint my passport photos three times I gave up with them.

I used shrink to fit the first time i used photobox a couple years ago or more now and they came with white borders.
Definitely need to have the pics in correct ratio and not use that option
