I wonder have any of you folk that have made photobooks got recommendations about which provider, do' and don't or general comments about the process? I have never made one of these books up and I know there will probably be loads of threads in the rest of the forum but I would rather get the views of film shooters. Any advice gratefully received.

I've made about 20 books and I prefer Blurb to the others I've tried. The quality of them is really good and I find the interface nice and simple.

Apparently the Aldi site is also good and from what I've seen the quality is pretty high.

I tried the Jessops one, which is based on some weird German software... appears to be from CEWE. There was some weird bug in it where pics would randomly move from their selected location and hide behind some other pic. It was good of Jessops that they kep reprinting it for free, but it meant that the book intended as a surprise for my wife's significant birthday in January turned into "Oh, another version" by about March... If you have a barge pole with a feather on the end... don't touch it, IMHO!

Also did a calendar from iPhoto with the Apple offering, which was dead easy, reasonably priced and fantastic quality. I've not tried Blurb, but it'll probably be next...

Wet prints and a friendly local binder? I've got this half baked idea in the back of my head for making 6x6/7 contact prints and getting those bound.

^^^^ Now that would be fantastic.

Chaps, many thanks this is really helpful, looks like Blurb is the way to go!

I use Bob Books, is this the same thing??

Sorry to hijack the thread

Just had a quick look, has anyone compared the price of the the two?

Ive just created a 50 page Hardback gloss photographic wedding album as a gift for a family member which has cost 74.99

Does that sound ok to you lot?

Probably about par for the course. I'm in the process of doing my Canadian holiday book which will probably end up being about 100 pages...could cost more to print than the holiday...:lol:

Missed this earlier but just doing the same with Photobox after they sent an email with an offer. I went for their premium jobbie as it sounded good quality from the description and they had a great deal (£110 down to £70 I think). Not sure I would have gone for that one without the offer but will report back when I have it finished.

I now have one month to rescan my favourite 100 photos........

Thanks Mark, I think I am going to go with Blurb initialy but I might also try a few other outfits in time
