Its a friends birthday and we've come up with the idea of getting friends to submit photos of him and make up a photobook with some blank white pages where people can write birthday messages - so this will passed round friends in advance of his birthday, then presented to him. (Sort of like a cross between a photobook and a signing board?)

I've no experience with photobooks - can anyone recommended a supplier/s who would have paper that could be written on?

I've only got a few weeks to get this sorted as I need to get it done, printed and posted in time for people to sign it... so somewhere with reasonably fast service would be good.

The other alternative is to collect all the photos and then create a photo montage of all the images, possibly with the central image being text that explains the event.

Get it printed at A2 then mounted with a wide card border.

Display on an easel at the party with a pen for the guests to sign with. Then get it framed.

Hi Lynne

Sim2000 do a signing book perfect for what your after.

Lyn x
That looks great. I didn't realise there was such a thing as a 'signing book' - that's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks! x

I did orginally think of something like that but its to be a surprise gift so all the signing will be done in advance and it needs to be taken round several venues in the week before his birthday, so something that his partner or someone can carry round (without him noticing) is needed.

Thanks again Lyn - my friend is very happy with the idea of the signing book so we're going with that. :)

Not sure how expensive a signing book with Loxley will work out, other option is Blurb's photobook using proline uncoated paper - pretty certain that this paper would be suitable to be written on. If you've not ordered before you can get a book printed with them for about £35 on your first order.

Thanks, I did think about Blurb and trying to find the right sort of paper to be written on, but when I can get a book that is actually designed to be written on it makes sense to go for that.

Just thought I'd update - I went with the SIM2000 signing book , the software was really straightforward to use, service very fast (ordered on Tues, delivered to the client Friday lunchtime) which was ideal as it was for a birthday party on Friday 13th July and that meant they had a week to pass it round all his friends to sign before the party. He's delighted with it! :D
