Photo52 - Week 46

Groan !!!!!!!
I've been having a recurring nightmare about this theme coming up! :gag:

Not only do I have to think about a self portrait, I suppose it means that I'll finally have to get my head around live-view.

 unless I can think of some other way to get around this theme . . .

Sarah - I share your nightmare. :(

omg - I think I've wished it on us in my Lessons learned this week:

Lessons learned:

1 The whole week gets a nice glow if you can make up your mind early on what to do for the current theme. I've probably just condemmed us to utter misery next week.

That'll teach me to open my big mouth. :$ :amstupid:

Please don't all gang up on me - I didn't mean it, honest.

Jean

It is late and I am tired, but I simply can't work out how you can use live view for a self portrait unless you are some kind of hedgehog....

Been there... Done that... ;)... Several of my early shots are SP's.. Just what to do for this one ....

Sarah, try tethered shooting... hook up the camera to a laptop, use the EOS Utility... you can get a Liveview display on the Laptop screen. Or... Set up some markers on the wall (small blob of bluetak) and the floor, to give you your position. Use an object to lock focus, positioned at the markers, set to MF, give yourself 10 seconds or more if needed and you have a timer remote (but 20 seconds will feel like an age whilst you wait in position for it to finish) to get to your position... if at first you don't succeed... ;)

You know... This may actually just be an easy one ...

Jean.. it's still all your fault though

Laptop and EOS Utility here I come!! Don't blame me for the resulting shots though...;)

Live View? Manual Focus? Bluetack? Tethered shooting?

Erm...I prefer this method...LOL

Tripod - engange all focus points - aim - check rough position of aim - put face in the firing line - fire shutter with timer - wait - review shot and repeat if necessary !!!

simples... no?

That's pretty much what I was thinking

That works too ;)

   That comment made me laugh out loud!!!!!!

That's what I was planning on doing but every time I look in the instruction manual for Live View I just put it straight back in the box
I'm sure it can't be that difficult, but it seems so much effort to get my head around for the first time

Now that sounds a lot easier . . . probably a bit hit and miss though. The end result could be very interesting!

Right, even though I'm getting somewhere with the "how do I do this", I still can't believe that I'm contemplating a self portrait!!!!
I really don't like portraits that much - generally find them a bit dull and I've got no idea how to make this interesting.
And on top of that I absolutely HATE photos of myself!

Maybe some lateral inspiration will hit by the weekend. Or maybe I can ask Conor if I can borrow that crowbar

here here.....

how many will cop out though....

??

how many?
:bonk:

Nope, no copping out from me.
Will have to wait for the weekend though. I've got a couple of work trips up to London this week, so I'm not going to have time to really try anything until Saturday.

As much as I hate photos of myself, I want to see what the rest of you look like, so it's only fair to join in

I wonder! Mines up. Come on people, let's see those mug shots :bat:

Somebody's keen! :D
Now do I look or don't I?
I normally don't peek at the 52s until I've got my shot in but . . .
