Hello. I am new to the forum, and am sure I will have many questions to ask. The first is this...For years I uses a photo editing app on Windows called Photo Studio 5.5. Unfortunately it no longer works on Windows 10. It was a pretty basic tool but I really liked it. I wonder if anyone has found a close alternative to this programme please ?

Affinity Photo is all you need for a good amateur imaging software, right now around £40 but look for discount coupons from the likes of YouTube experts who provide there expert knowledge on most imaging editing software and offer the codes.

Thank you for that. All I want to do, as I did with Photo Studio is Crop, Sharpen , Auto Enhance, Add Text , Remove unwanted or Clone background etc

Dunno if Affinity does auto-enhance??? Or clone BG for that matter! Check out Microsoft help forums because Photo Studio could well be got to work with W10. Vintage apps generally, whether 32 or 64 bit, seem to be accomodated quite well by W10 in my experience

Download the trial version see how it goes

I have Photo Studio 5.5 on my Windows 10 it works perfectly. But i also have Photoshop 2022 which i use all the time.

Good evening, I am sorry for the delay in coming back to this post. But I have been away for a few days. I have purchased Paint.net as an alternative to Photo Studio 5.5. Paint.Net does have some of the features of Photo Studio. But I really preferred PhotoStudio. Does anyone know where I can still safely download Photostudio5.5 please ?

I thought that Paint.Net was free! Have you been diddled?

If advice seems slow coming, I guess that most of us here are using apps at the more complex end of the spectrum and have little knowledge of apps that are simplified.

I'd do lots of googling about what's out there, read reviews, then take a stab at something - and if it's a paid-for app, download a free trial first - but only download apps from their makers' websites to be safe.

Even then, it's possible that even a genuine app that's malware-free will mess with your computer - if not harmfully as such then in little commandeering ways that are in it's maker's own interests rather than yours. It can be a minefield at the free / cheap end.

But it seems that Photo Studio 5.5 is discontinued, which suggests that it's time to move on?

Free downloads are still available, but the developers also sell it on the Windows Store to support the project.

If by Photo studio 5.5, you mean Arcsoft photo studio, then v6.0 looks to be available on cnet
Back in the day, cnet was a reputable source of free/trial/shareware software (and by back in the day, I mean when we were using 56k modems !!! )
I can't speak for it's reliability now though.
