Yes
Hi, i'm going to Turkey later this month, and have been pondering on how to store all my photos. I'm going away for two weeks, so i assume i will be taking a few photos.

I'm not overly keen on taking my laptop, but i will if needed, it will just take up space / weight.

I remember a while ago someone telling me about some hard drive type gadgets that you pop your cf card into & it stores them all for you.

So, i dont know what they are called, or what the cost, or what options you can get with them?

Anyone help me out?

Oh yes, they are rather pricey! best get on the look out for some cheap cards.

Thanks.

might be worth checking the file format - jpg will save lots over raw and not many people going to spend ages manipulating the pics in raw once they are home.

Mantamark- Look at the Jobo Giga One 40/80/120GB. You can pick them up from £80ish

Are there any other makes worth looking at? Looking for around 40-80gb, not bothered about a viewing screen or flashy options, just want the files transfered. Thanks.

if you have access to the internet use the windows live skydrive option...thats 25gb storage for free!

Yes but relying on having an internet connection decent enough to upload ~2-4GB isnt ideal, imagine if it was only a 512k line or a shared line that was very slow, it would take you forever...

If i had use of a pc i could just take my external hd, but alas i dont so looking for other options.

As mentioned in above threads, I'd be tempted to get some more cards

Well, you could go for an external HD, they are getting cheaper and cheaper.
Saw one yesterday in my local Robert Dyas (Or however you spell it?) 250GB for £45.
Seems like an awfully good £:Gigabyte ratio to me!

EDIT: Of course only effective if you have access to a computer to get the files across.

What about something like an Archos 5, I see they have USB2 but would you be able to plug a card reader into it?

If so, there's plenty on ebay and I'd buy a cheap one for the holiday then ebay it again upon return :)
