In there I noticed a link to a free edition of Serif Photo Plus 6

I have used Photo Plus for years since first finding a free copy of PP5 on a CD on a Photo mag.

I subsequently purchased PP7 for £25.00 as a special offer.

The one thing about getting this free offer is that subsequently Serif will, from time to time, e-mail you special offers.

For instance I recently purchased Photo Plus X2 for approx £12 inc P&P.

For that I got a CD with the complete program AND a quite hefty A5 manual.

As far as I'm concerned an excellent bargain, especially as the original price was over £70.00.

When you download the free program you get a "nag" screen asking you to phone in to register it.

When you do so you are given a sales pitch trying to get you to buy their latest products at full price.

The trick here is to phone in about 5 mins before closing time and just refuse all the hard sales - politely of course.

You are then given the reg.no. to get rid of the hard screen.

So for those of you who can't - like me - afford Photoshop this program makes a very good editor.

They can be pretty good at selling you a bundle of software you don't want or need!
They used to send me loads of emails and also call me at home trying to sell me something quite regularly, in the end I told them to remove me from all mailing/calling lists etc. or I'd take it further.

The software was 'ok' though.
