I looked around and can find several attractive and short or very short *.photo names still available.

Is this a good idea? Are people receptive to those?

Or is it still the days of *.com and *.co.uk?
Thanks for your thoughts on this.

Waste of time IMO, look at search results and see how many of the 'new' extensions are listed ... practically nil.

That's true.

But what about using one as alias on T-shirts, or business cards?

Shorter, more memorable name should be helpful unless of course people won't even realise it is a web address at all! Some non-technical people might never think to type that in the browser....

And then there is the question what if you operate across different countries (say UK and Germany, not that I do currently) or even re-locate? *.com I guess...?

I have photoneta.com and drphotoart.com - first is reserved for lifestyle once and if I get it going, but maybe just maybe I could shift real estate there too. The latter if any good (???) or memorable at all - print sales only.

I got dtr.photography as it was on offer for next to nothing. To use it or not to use it is the question.
There are couple more but certainly not for next to nothing :(

Whether your domain name ends in .com, .photo or .co.uk is of very little relevance for the average user of your website as they will just go to google and search from there. You will probably be the only person who types your websites URL in the browsers address bar.

hmm that's an interesting thought

so if for example you saw a nice photo you wanted on my car or a T-shirt and LOCATION.photo printed underneath would you type that in a browser? What about a NAME.com?

Google Analytics takes no preference to TLD.

Number of schools are taking on the .school TLD.

It’s up to you really, I personally like all the new styles, slowly catching on.
